Visited with my mom and the museum did not disappoint! We took a ride out on Lake Michigan on the Friends Good Will. The crew was very pleasant and presented a nice history of the vessel and the Great Lakes!! Excellent learning opportunity and overall a fun experience. The museum itself was nice, clean, well put together. Would highly recommend!
This is a very cute museum, nicely arranged and displayed and very clean. There are several small buildings which house exbihits of small boats and watercraft, as well as nice signage explaining everything. We were very disappointed that our ride on the Friends Good Will was canceled due to higher-than-usual waves on the lake -- we were surprised because it was a beautiful morning, but there had been a storm the night before. So while we were frustrated, it was just one of those things and we certainly can't blame the museum; in fact, they made the right call in priotizing safety. It definitely gives us a reason to go back!
Visited here in summer 2022. Saw the exhibits and took a ride on the Lindy Lou, river launch. Friends Good Will couldn't sail that day because of rough water. Came back on September 9, 2023 and went sailing on Friends Good Will on a perfect, sunny, sailing day. It was great. If you get the chance, take an hour and a half out of your day on Lake Michigan sailing on Friends Good Will.
Came for the Boat tour not expecting much from the museum. We were pleasantly surprised, it is a wonderful museum to learn about the Boats and history of Lake Michigan.
The tour on "Friends Goodwill' is also highly recommended.
Very nice I enjoyed finally going through the museum. A lot of the museum is set up for interaction with children but as an old guy, I enjoyed a lot of the displays and well worth the price. Did not go for a boat ride but I definitely enjoyed the museum
Took my daughter & grandson on the tall ship. Staff on the ship was wonderful. The captain let my grandson stear the ship. Staff let him do the sails. My grandson dressed like a pirate. He walked all over the ship like he owned it. He waved to everyone on the pier he had a blast. One of the staff even gave him a gold coin he swore was real 🤣.
Packed with cool stuff. Def tour the museum. Be aware they sell Dramamine for the boat cruise for a reason. Don’t be proud. Be prepared! And enjoy.
It's a pretty nice concept and the motion activated videos. The games people played in boats are cool and you can play some yourself. A few items were out of service. The store is also fun. The staff was polite and helpful.
